Who is behind?
It’s me! Yeah! As you might have guessed, my name is Stephanie Stafrach and I am a crochet and textile artist. But it hasn’t always been the case.
I have a degree in hydrodynamics engineering and I worked for several years as an engineer in Monaco and living in the south of France, near Nice. This experience in a challenging and very innovative industry and my scientific formation shaped the way I see and approach things in an unusual way. I enjoy looking for a solution to any challenges that arise and use this creativity to solve a
problem. I am used to think outside the box, to view things under another angle and to try new things.
In 2014, my first boy arrived and I decided to pause my career to take care of him. In the same time my husband and me decided to move to another country to have new experiences. Almost 10 years later, I am the very lucky mom to 3 little boys that I home-educate, I live in the south of England, near Winchester and I decided to change my career.
When my last baby was due, back in October 2019, I undertake a 4-weeks crochet course at my local library, 2 weeks learning to crochet with a baby in my tummy and 2 week with the baby on my tummy and feeding. I was even crocheting while in labour!!! And since then I never stopped crocheting, like every single day. I began an Instagram account to share what I was doing @CrochetDeLune, and decided that I cannot keep all my makes so I decided I wanted to try to make a business out of this passion.
That’s when I decided to take a 2-years course in crochet with SST, School of Stitched Textile, to become proficient in my domain. I graduate at the summer 2023. I enjoyed it so so much, it help me gain confidence in my art and my design and to learn all the techniques in depth. You can have a read at my interview here.
I completed my formation with a Level 3 Award in Education and Training to deliver the best service possible.
And now here I am with my business, providing workshops and courses and selling my own products. Cannot be more grateful !
My vision
I really believe that it is possible to create products that are meaningful. By meaningful, I mean that these products are made with a real person behind it, with its own background and vision and with its own craftsmanship. This will results in truly unique products that cannot be find on the highstreet.
I like to think that there is a little bit of me and my vision in my products and that this product will be a forever reminder of the memorable day you had.
